Moreover, he has patented his idea. Meanwhile, it all started six years ago. By profession Sergey is a creative designer, developing various promotional products. To promote the macaroni factory “Krasnokamsk” he was invited to film the commercial about production of the factory. According to him, once, in the evening, an inspiration came to him. And, as they say, it all started. Although the advertising campaign did not take place, but the idea remained.

Sculpture Artist Makes Incredible Realistic Busts of Movie Villains

Joop Bongaerts has created a host of amazing lifelike figures from Blockbuster hits including Planet of the Apes, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. The artist has been working on re-creating characters and creatures into life like statues for the past two years and has set up his own business, Joop Bongaerts Creations.

More: Instagram

The self taught artist describes the five step process it takes to bring these figures to life, with some pieces taking more than a month of full time work to complete.

Joop, from the Netherlands, said: “Some characters take a lot of time to get right due to the complexity of the design or because you have to make a likeness, that alone can sometimes take up to about 120 hours. It is a five step process to create these busts, which starts with sculpting the basic shapes of the character or design.”

Joop said: “I try my best to create the character or design in front of me as realistic as possible. Starting with the basic shapes, then refining the anatomy and skinfolds to finally detailing the skin with textures, then I move on to moulding.”

After sculpting and moulding, Joop then moves on to casting.

He explains: “Casting is the more technical side of the process. With the casting I decide what the material and look of the final bust will be, I for example use silicone for creating a realistic looking material for the skin. I will pour and slush through the mould for several layers to get the right thickness. After this I pour resin and rigid foam behind the flexible skin to make sure the bust is strong and will keep the shape of the original sculpture.”

Next, Joop is ready to paint his creation.

He said: “Once the cast is removed from the mould I can start painting the skin. With different washes and tones I try to achieve the complex pigment of real skin and if the character has hair I need to punch all of these hair into the skin individually.”

After a long and detailed process, the final steps include inserting the resin eyes and denture, making the clothing, styling the hair and overall final detailing. Joop is private about the cost of his creations, as they differ in price due to size and artistic complexity, but he did say that the bare materials cost hundreds of pounds per piece.

He said: “The costs of these busts are dependent on the character.

“Mostly it depends on size, the bigger the character the more material is needed, but also complexity is important. If I have to add all kinds of armour for example that means making lots of individual moulds for these parts, again creating more material costs. So it is hard to say exactly but it goes into the hundreds at the bare least.”

Joop has an exciting future ahead of him and hopes to try and work on more realistic art.

He said: “I am very interested in the larger than life realistic art. Nothing is more difficult than recreating the human face, so seems like the logical and most exciting next step for me.”

A Horror–mad Seven-Year-Old Girl Has Ditched Disney Princesses to Recreate Scenes from Gory Films Such as The Exorcist and Chucky

Pint-sized Coral DeGraves has modelled as over 60 characters from some of the most iconic horror films with the help of her mum, Cheyenne. The schoolgirl became obsessed with horror films when she was just two and Cheyenne was surprised to find she’d prefer Chucky to Cinderella.

More: Instagram

Office manager Cheyenne said: “Coral has never really taken to princesses and other things in that realm. She doesn’t necessarily turn her nose up to princesses or fairy tales, she’s just never shown a distinct interest. While she loves all things horror and paranormal, she is just as much your regular animal loving, adventure seeking, girl scout.

When Coral was about two years old, she became drawn to Chucky so for fun, I made her a little Good Gal’s costume. She wound up later asking to wear that same costume to a horror convention a few months later. Being so young seeing and meeting these actors and artists who make and portray these characters took the fear out of the images and movies for her. From that moment any fear was replaced with genuine fascination. She wanted to watch all of the scary movies and she loves watching anything that shows how the monsters and creatures are created.”

The pair regularly attend horror conventions together sporting homemade outfits and Cheyenne insists that despite her age, the youngster is fascinated rather than scared.

Coral, who lives in Maryland, has been pictured as the bride of Frankenstein, the joker, a gory tooth fairy, Pennywise and a creepy Tinkerbell. Coral’s favourite film is IT but her parents make sure they preapprove any horror films before she watches them herself and Coral watches short clips to help perfect her interpretation of the characters.

A Pair of Back to The Future Fans Have Built the World’s First Life–sized Replica of The Time Travel Train

Mike Hutchinson, 43, and Ian Robinson, 49, spent five months on their epic recreation. Mike, who is from Bingley, West Yorks, and Ian, who is a prop builder, was influenced by 90s nostalgia. Mike, who is a mortgage advisor, and Ian, from Harrogate, Yorks, have lost count of the number of times they’ve watched Back to the Future 3.

They went above and beyond to ensure the 30ft train looks like the real deal and spent in excess of £30,000 ($41,000). Mike said: “We have both been fans of the films and prop collectors for years.

“Last year, I asked, if I had ever thought of building the train. At that point, I simply laughed off the idea. Coincidentally Ian, who works as a prop builder and I reconnected and we discussed the idea of building the train. You could say we were lucky, as both of our work had dried out due to the pandemic, so we had time to plan and build when restrictions allowed. We researched from watching the film numerous times. We also obtained never before seen pictures from the prop masters and special effect teams from the actual film.”

The pair hope to showcase the world’s first replica to the world when lockdown restrictions are eased. They have been inundated with fans who would love to see it in the flesh. They hope to hire it out for private events in the future.

Mike said: “We are waiting for an opportunity to showcase this world‘s first replica build to the world. The BTTF community cannot believe that we have recreated so an iconic prop. We have hundreds of people waiting for this to be released so that they can see this build in the flesh. It has brought a great buzz to the BTTF community.”
