Photographer Joseph Michael ventured into the 30-million-year-old limestone caves on New Zealand's North Island to capture mystical images of the glowworms that turn this place into a starry world. At first glance, it appears as if there are countless blue-tinted stars, but this is actually the work of Arachnocampa luminosa and their larvae, which are composed of up to 70 silk threads that contain droplets of mucus. Michael used the long-exposure method to capture the glowworm larvae and their light. Click here to view the first image in this week's geek life gallery. Scientists Create 3D Holograms You Can Actually Touch

Finally, scientists have managed to create 3D holograms that you can actually touch. The research team, comprising scientists from universities across Japan, used a display made from femtosecond lasers, also known as "Fairy Lights," that pulse at one quadrillionth of a second and turn air in a specific point into plasma which you can touch.
