This Brush You Hold With Your Mouth Lets You Lick Your Cat

Sometimes the idea of making something so weird outweighs the actual usefulness of the item. Take for instance this cat brush that you hold in your mouth and use it by fake licking your cat with each stroke of the giant tongue brush sticking out of your mouth. Not only does this most likely not work at all in regards to actually brushing your cat, but also just makes you look like a complete idiot while using it, so it’s essentially a lose-lose situation.

The LICKI Brush, developed by PDXPetDesign, as so it’s called is made up of a number of silicone bristles that attach to a mouth guard like part of the device where you can bite down to hold onto the brush. To use it simply approach your cat with a giant rubber tongue in your mouth and ease into a slow licking movement on their back or head while they’re sleeping or in an otherwise pleasant mood. Since for cats it’s mutually beneficial to be licked, don’t be surprised if they start licking you back.

This weird product started as a Kickstarter campaign few years back, then reached it’s goal, and now is available on Amazon, however, if you’re planning to get one for yourself, you should think really hard before clicking that BUY button, because this thing is pretty much 99% useless.

Richard Saunders Creates Giant Bushes In The Shape Of His Deceased Cat

Many of us know the feeling when you just terribly miss a pet you used to have. I sure do, even got a tattoo of my cat! However, 75-year-old Richard Saunders took it to a whole new level. The artist decided to express love for his cat, who died 5 years ago, by creating extremely surprising surreal images. In these images, plants from real places are replaced by giant bushes in the shape of his adorable cat Tolly.

More: Richard Saunders, Facebook h/t: boredpanda

Richard Saunders exclusively told Bored Panda the story behind his project named “The Topiary Cat”: “Initially I created these images just for fun. I had taken a photograph, in the grounds of a historic house, of a huge cloud topiary, and it occurred to me that I could fairly easily photograph Tolly in a position to match the shape of the bushes.”

Richard claims that after making the image and posting it on Flickr, it was stolen and his name was removed without any approval. The image ended up going viral on Facebook and people believed it to be a real topiary! Later, BBC did a story for their page and revealed Richard to be the real creator of these manipulations as he made more and more of them.

Richard has been a surrealist painter since he was a teenager and learned to use Photoshop over two decades ago in his job as an advertising Creative Director. He says: “The idea of creating The Topiary Cat, over eight years ago, while Tolly was still alive, was easily accomplished with skills I already knew. The images have become more complicated since, many taking days to produce, with tailor-made photos taken especially for them.”

Japanese Cat Owner Devises Eccentric Feeding Strategy

potechi_nikki

It’s always fun to give your pets treats, but one Japanese cat owner has found an easy way to make it even more interesting. Whenever the owner feeds this cat through three holes cut into a cardboard box, the feline looks instantly more comical.

Though their contributions rarely receive credit, pets have played their part across pop history. An animal’s presence can offer comfort, laughter, inspiration, or annoyance, and earning a pet’s affection can be one of the most rewarding experiences in life. Naturally, those emotions can’t help but bleed into an artist’s work.

This Library Attracts The Public By Dressing Up One Librarian’s Cat As Literary And Movie Icons

The Center County Library is a public library (with three different branches) located in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, USA. However, what separates this library from all the others is the fact that it has a very special employee: a cat named Horatio. Every week, Horatio stars in the hashtag #caturday on the establishment’s Instagram, contributing some really wholesome pictures.

To attract the public and increase the number of readers and consumption of art in general (even if it is those nostalgic films like the “Princess Diary,” “Star Wars,” and so on), social worker and Horatio’s owner Lisa Shaffer turns her cat into iconic Hollywood, historic and pop-culture figures, be it real or fictional characters.

“Horatio lives with me but his cardboard cutout is at our main branch in Bellefonte. He is a sweet and docile cat and he always knows and is interested when I’m crafting a costume for him. He gets treats when we do a ‘photoshoot’ and is quite patient when dressed and sits for the photo. We worked our way up from hats and bowties to shirts to wigs and more elaborate costumes, all of which Horatio wears easily,” Lisa told Bored Panda.

Adorable Sand Cats Become Japanese Beach’s Landmark After Taking Over

When Japanese artist Shigeto Hashimoto was invited to the beach by his wife, he likely wasn’t expecting to be greeted by an army of felines that would become a favorite of beachgoers, but that appears to be just what happened. Just a few days ago, Hashimoto shared photos from Kamakura’s Yuigahama beach that have become the talk of the town.

More: Twitter h/t: grapee

“At 5:30 this morning, my wife suddenly woke me up and said “we’re going to the beach”, so we headed to Yuigahama. For the time being I thought I’d sit and read, so I pulled out a beach chair and SHONAN TIME magazine to read. Then she shouted “look at this!”, and when I turned around a ton of cats had been born. It seems like she’s making them into Yuigahama’s new landmark!”

While Hashimoto was getting ready to lounge at the beach, his wife had transformed the surrounding beach area into a cat lover’s heaven. To do this she used the “infinite cat making machine” Neko Cup, a popular cat-shaped mold that can instantly turn dirt, sand, and even food into a feline work of art.
