DCN Video Pick: INDOCHINE | Station 13 by Bouha Kazmi // From…

DCN Video Pick: INDOCHINE | Station 13 by Bouha Kazmi // From the transatlantic slave trade in the 16th century to the conquest and subjugation of indigenous people in the 19th century to current race riots in major urban cities, the ideological pattern of intolerance, bigotry and prejudice has been omnipresent throughout history. This film depicts the representation of what initially appears to be ordinary men persecuted by society. Inspired by the paintings of Caravaggio, Peter Paul Rubens, and conflicts during the civil rights movement, “Station 13” follows the blows of extraordinarily public transgressions that shine a light on the cycle of confrontation of civil liberties and systemic racism. It’s about humanity’s ignorance and the fear of the unknown, which in turn acts as a powerful statement against prejudice. The film is set to “Station 13” by Indochine, a French rock and new wave band that has become one of the most popular French groups of the last thirty years. DCN Video Pick: Light Wind Land by Rafa Zub // I escaped the hustle and bustle of Hanoi and explored a magic land hidden in its parks -often placed around the many lakes- and that I found to be beautifully decadent. After a long workday and before the sun hides, Hanoians run to these green bubbles and enjoy themselves under the gentle winds. Filmed and edited by Rafa Zubiria. DCN Video Pick: Moving Forward by Mau Morgó // chapter 1: “the calling” chapter 2: “becoming aware” chapter 3: “acceptance” A short 3 chapter story about losing your mind while losing a loved one. While directing this I was going through some shit, and now re-watching the lost scenes, i’ve decided to do a director’s cut, and shine a light on the different emotional phases and feelings my body and mind have been going through. . Now with some perspective, and being in this new unexplored part of myself I can say: It’s ok; losing it and feeling lost is beautiful, just respect yourself, keep it moving. . The footage is part of the Seat ad I directed a couple months ago with the @aei_u family. . i wanted to thank everyone that has been there helping out, and share some peace. . music: Katze by: @alvanoto, #blixabargeld and #ANBB
